That’s a capo. It’s used to change the key of the guitar—one half step for each fret further from the top.
My dad used to sing that song when he was driving at night. That and Red River Valley…
It’s one of those Dad songs. My father liked to sing “When The Caissons Go Rolling Along.”
My Dad’s song was a mix(!),
of ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ and ‘Jeepers Creepers’!
Sometimes ‘Hey Good Looking’ came inbetween!
