Wall Poem

Florence, Italy

We saw a number of different poems pasted to walls in Florence. I know very little Italian, but here’s my best attempt at the English translation of this one, based on a variety of internet translation sites and a large dose of poetic license. Feel free to let me know if you have a better translation:

Flying

This shaded roof
with a fiery frame
its excess
piercing the air.

The view from up here:
calm,
alive.

The scary sky
cradles me
while I travel between its layers
and the next dream.

    • We saw a number of these in Italy. There’s an Italian website listed at the bottom of the paper in the photo, but I haven’t taken a look at it yet.

  1. sounds good to me! how interesting, modern day graffiti: from wikipedia Graffiti (both singular and plural; the singular graffito is very rare in English except in archeology)[1][2][3] is writing or drawings made on a wall or other surface, usually as a form of artistic expression, without permission and within public view. [2][3] Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.
