Angela Lansbury in one of her signature roles at the 1975 Tony Awards.
About two-thirds of the way through the clip, Lansbury gets surprised by a guest dancer. Don’t miss it. The look on her face is wonderful. (If you don’t recognize who it is, I’ll post his identity in the comments.)

It’s John Lindsay, who was mayor of NYC at the time.
I see her a lot in older movies, on with Danny Kaye, and she has kind of a Bette Davis look about her. Sadly, she was too tall to be a leading lady…
I wouldn’t feel too badly for her; she’s done very well in her career. Aside from her career pre-Mame, she’s had at least two more signature roles other than Mame: the long tv run in Murder She Wrote, and the starring role in Broadway’s Sweeney Todd. And she was made Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2014.
I’d imagine it would set her apart from the herd. If she’d just been cast as a pretty face, her career would’ve ended in the sixties…
I actually recognized Lindsay….he looked real good on stage!
Lindsay was actually on the Broadway stage one other time. He appeared one night on the stage in the musical Seesaw, in a production number that was set in Times Square.
When I was in high school, he came to speak at an assembly program, and the one thing I remember about him was that he was really tall. If he went into acting he would have been a leading man.
