Yes, I left it in, because I thought it was interesting historically. However, I’m not a hundred percent it was meant pejoratively–the white guy does call them “fellas” earlier and is pretty respectful towards them; it could be that “boys” was being used in a familiar way, like the “boys in the band.” But it certainly is a possibility that it was a condescending form of address.
