Waltz For Debby

Monday morning, 60s jazz singer Monica Zetterlund  rehearses her signature song in her native Swedish with Bill Evans at the piano. Great to watch her as her doubt and pleasure register so transparently.

  1. One of my favorite songs ever. Written by the great Bill Evans, with English lyrics by the formidable jazz critic Gene Lees. Mark Murphy has a wonderful version, the best, in my humble opinion, is by Tony Bennett with Bill Evans voicing the piano. Great song. Spoiler alert, my wife is named Debbie. Thanks for the clip.

    • Thanks for the background on that, Abe. I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this, but Monica Zetterlund is new to me, and I was very impressed. And of course, Bill Evans is an old favorite. Hello to all Debbies!
