Siren’s Send-Off

***

Monday morning, a 10-year-old boy wakes up with visions of Ann-Margaret in his dreams, the sexiest redhead of the sixties.

The clip is from the opening and closing sequences of the movie Bye Bye Birdie, filmed six months after production had wrapped, and paid for from director George Sidney’s own pocket.  Dig the minimalist set design. Charles Strouse and Lee Adams wrote the song especially for the film version—it wasn’t in the original stage production.
