Hotel California

Monday morning starts with a cover of an Eagles classic. I have to say, I’m not a big Eagles fan, but Toni, Reina, Josh, and Carson do a fantastic job on this. With Andrew Foreman on bass. And the videography by Kelly Oden is really, really good as well.

Sweet Dreams

Monday morning, Toni takes the lead with a guitar and bass version of Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams are Made of This.

Covering Annie Lennox is a heavy lift, and I was skeptical, but when the harmonies of Josh and Reina at 2:30 started to kick in, I had a big grin on my face.

Don’t Let Me Down

Monday morning, another excellent cover of a lesser known Beatles song from Josh, Carson, Reina, and Toni.

A John Lennon penned song, it was released as the B-Side to the “Get Back” single, but for some reason it was cut from the Let It Be album.

“I’ve Forgotten If They’re Green Or They’re Blue”

I think “Your Song” was the first Elton John song I had ever heard, around 1970. I remember thinking it was cool writing a song about writing a song ineptly. Reina del Cid and Toni Lindgren with a lovely version of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin classic.

The Tennessee Waltz

***

Okay, so “The Tennessee Waltz” is a song I’ve hated all my life. When I would hear it on the radio or when somebody on a TV variety show would sing it, I would immediately turn it off. It seemed to me like an endless, very boring song. But…wow. This version by Reina del Cid and Toni Lindgren on guitar is just great. First time I really heard the lyrics, and Toni’s guitar playing is wonderful.
